GSTAction Development Kit step-by-step instructions

1a) Download the zip file and expand it into a sub-directory. See the gstaction-from-zip below. Click on gstactn.exe to see a sample autorun, then click on gstactn.hlp to get an overview of how to use the product.

1b) When you are ready to start creating your own autorun, copy the 6 circled files to a work sub-directory. This is where you will create your autorun program.

2) Go to your graphics program, (yes the GSTAction Development Kit assumes that you know how to create a graphic bitmap). Create a normal bitmap as show on the left and a highlight bitmap as shown on the right. The highlight bitmap is exactly like the normal bitmap except it is highlighted with different colors and shapes to look different when the mouse travels over the area. 3) Now copy the menu 1 normal and menu 1 highlight bitmaps into the work sub-directory. If you are going to have more than one menu screen, you need to create a matched set for each screen.

4) Now click on the ACTNWZRD.EXE (GSTAction Wizard) to configure the title, videos, sounds and actions for each selection area. To find out more on how to use the wizard click here

5) After testing the autorun you now create an AUTORUN.INF file with the following information in it. Now copy this file to the root of the CD.

OPEN=autorun\gstactn.exe
ICON=autorun\gstactn.exe

6) Now copy all of your files in the work sub-directory to the CD. The AUTORUN.INF file shown above assumes that you are putting all of the autorun files in an autorun sub-directory off of the root directory.

7) You have to do more work designing your screens and more manual copying of files in comparison to our other product the GST Autoplay Easel. Despite this extra work many companies prefer the GSTAction Development Kit because of the added flexibility, graphic effects and most of all the ability to play videos on the autorun (AVI).
